Target Physio’s resident Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Kelly Dickson, will work with you to create a lifestyle and exercise program that is centred around your goals and improving your quality of life. All Exercise Physiology sessions are conducted at our Kenmore clinic in a one-on-one capacity.
Your initial consultation will include:
Discussion of your current and past medical history
Discussion of particular goals and outcomes to work towards
Measurement of Blood Glucose levels and other appropriate resting measures
Short walking test to assess cardiovascular fitness
A combination of strength and balance tests to assess function
Creation of a management plan which will be emailed through following your appointment
Subsequent exercise sessions for Type 2 Diabetes include:
Pre- and post-exercise Blood Glucose checks to ensure safety for exercise
Delivery of an individualised program consisting of cardiovascular and strength-based exercises
Balance and proprioception exercises
Group-based classes will also include the above, with the addition of a few friends to exercise alongside!
Kelly conducts group exercise classes for Type 2 Diabetes once a week during school term blocks. These exercise classes may be covered by Medicare with the appropriate Type 2 Diabetes Exercise Physiology Group Services referral from your GP.

Finally I found a physio team who really understand "workout despite injury". In Target Physio I don't feel I am patient and too injured or old to do daily gym exercise. They have thought me why, how and what should I do in the gym to improve my strength and help recovering my injured knees.
