Ageing is a natural part of life which (no matter how much we try, with face creams, serums and hair dye), we can’t control.

But what we can control is how we move our bodies! Just like we develop wrinkles and gray hair on the outside, the structures inside our body can lose their function if we don’t do anything about it.

But the good news is – our bodies are adaptable at any age! Using strength exercise is one way to maintain muscle and bone mass, and keep you doing the things you love for as long as possible!

Our exercise physiologist’s, Strength for Life class, is aimed at anyone wanting to build their strength, improve overall physical function or incorporate regular muscle strengthening exercises into their weekly training. It is also the perfect class for people with Type 2 Diabetes who have been told to increase their physical activity to manage their blood sugar levels.

The 60min class is split into 3 parts – a warm up which includes a mixture of aerobic and mobility movements, a circuit-based strength component, and a cool down where we take time to stretch and practice deep breathing techniques.

Each class has a particular movement focus, in which we use outcome measures to test and track our progress weekly. At the end of class, participants can expect their outcome measures to improve, the exercises to feel easier and feel as though the are moving smoother in other daily activities.

Strength for Life is an ongoing class, which means you can join in at any time and still benefit.
